Monique
Surrounded by her gracious and strikingly beautiful family and friends, Monique glows with the glamour of a classic Hollywood star. Thoughtful, too ~ she kept her dad a secret until after the wedding, so I didn't get nervous.
Ladies, let's do something fun.
Inspired by Leibovitz, shot at Copper Creek, this image took almost an hour to make. These extraordinary women trusted me unequivocally, embracing meticulous direction with the grace of seasoned models. Their enthusiasm for the creative process transformed a concept into lasting art.
A Timeless Entrance
At the grandest wedding reception in all of Canada, Michelle’s discerning taste was evident in her choice to have an exquisite string trio greet her distinguished guests in her venue’s foyer.
So sweet, Dominique.
She sits here quietly, feeling the gentle weight of this milestone settle softly around her. This photograph was created for Dominique —and only Dominique— capturing the essence of her unique personality. Though I have had the honor of photographing many brides at Parkwood Estate, I have never repeated this image for another.
Nicole
There was a quiet beauty in the way she led her horse - grace meeting strength in perfect balance. The soft greens around them framed the moment with calm, reminding me of the peace and simplicity I once knew growing up with horses in Epsom. I love this image so much.
Lindsey & Matt
So pretty and photogenic, she'll make any shutterbug appear talented. Just point a camera in her general direction, press the button, and voila! Instant professional photographer.
Big Energy at Nestleton Waters Inn
It's easy to get full participation with a truly fun group of people.
Can Photographers Have Favorites?
Sabine was my first wedding after moving fully to digital photography. A flood had destroyed my entire film collection, but she still gave me her trust, which meant the world. We celebrated her day at Viamede Resort, the same venue as my sister’s wedding. Sabine’s beauty and warmth made the whole experience unforgettable.
Can Photographers Have Favorites?
My first clients in the digital camera era. Pete and Sabine will always be my favorite couple, for several reasons.
A Beautiful Vision
I always say great photographs are a team effort - and with someone like Nicole, I definitely get the better end of that deal.
Tranquil Bride
Held by twilight's embrace, the beauty of Nicole's graceful form is matched only by the loyalty of her regal friend.
Authentic Diva
Michelle graduated the Royal Conservatory of Music where she achieved Level 8 piano, indicating signifigant proficiency and dedication. She is among the kindest, most thoughtful individuals I've ever known. She wed Slavko, a suave Serbian gent. Click the "Authentic Diva" caption heading to watch their Rich Bride TV episode "Gimme More".
Creativity & Spirit
Andy's a sound engineer, the maestro behind the scenes, who has shaped the sonic textures of major bands like Billy Talent, Tragically Hip, and Van Halen. Johanna's an easy-going massage therapist (RMT), whose undeniable charm stems not only from her striking beauty, but also from her refreshing ability to not take herself too seriously. A fantastic blend of creativity and compassion.
Arcadian Court, Toronto
One of the finest venues I've ever worked, and the best prime rib I've ever had. If you look closely, you can see the happy newlyweds enjoying their guests from the balcony.
Popular People - Tracey & Dan
This fun couple had sooo many friends, their reception was fun to watch. Yes, that's Canadian actor Dan Petronijevic.
Natural Beauty, Defined
Never saw a better-fitting gown in my life, and my studio was inside a bridal gown boutique!
Congratulations Melissa & Aaron
One of the most easy-going, enjoyable weddings we've ever been invited to.
Just One More Shot
Sometimes I'll spend an extra 30-40 minutes at the end of the night to capture a High Dynamic Range (HDR) shot of the location. The process involves shooting 9 separate photos, each with distinct exposure settings, and merging them into a single composite in Photoshop. This produces a single image with a very wide tonal range.
Boots and Hearts
John & Marianne, authentic Canadians and two of the kindest ever. We joked about the big boots later. This was my first professional engagement photograph made with a digital camera. A Nikon D200, quite a step down from my F5, but I'm all about adopting new tech if it's viable.
Jaclyn
Fabulous graphic designer. Her reception at Capital Event Theater was decorated with movie posters which she created from my engagement photographs. They were AWESOME!
My High School Crush
Her beauty is the least interesting thing about her. We're at Salvador Dalí Museum, St. Petersburg, Florida.
She's a natural beauty...
...and she likes photography as much as I do, with experience dating back into the 35mm film days, which is cool. I respect all good film photographers because it takes skill to shoot film properly, whereas digital not nearly as much. Shot in South Carolina.
Arrivederci
Another great day has come to a close — our morning, afternoon, and evening were all successful. As we prepare to depart, let's take a moment to say our goodbyes to the bride. A candid photo by Teresa - had no idea she shot this until the next day.
Supermoon 2012
Shot with my ultra sharp 200mm f/2.0 VR prime lens, handheld while resting on the hood of my car. Made two exposures to refocus in between. I hope you enjoyed my photography. So long ❤️
