I Think We're Alone Now - St Jacobs
After walking and shooting for a couple hours, we've found a perfect location to make our last picture. There's just a few minutes of gorgeous sunlight left. I put Malcolm and Lyne into the frame, then move away so they can feel more comfortable. Suddenly, out of the woods, we have company.
Into The Sunset - St Jacobs
As Lyne and Malcolm journey towards the horizon, a sinking sun paints a blue sky in breathtaking golden hues. Their love is a profound force, as solid and mighty as the locomotive that glides along these steadfast tracks.
Stunning Allure
Blessed with extraordinary beauty and gifted with remarkable eloquence, Lindsey embodies the apex of feminine charm.
Designed to Make Hearts Flutter and Dreams Come True
Her enchanting gown adorned with delicate detail looks fantastic in the window light...but we ain't seen nothing yet.
A Masterpiece of Gorgeousness
As Lindsey descends the staircase to be with her closest family and dearest friends, her beauty shines brightly, illuminating the room for all to admire.
Big Big Energy - Nestleton Waters Inn
These group shots are always challenging, especially if the bar is nearby, but they're always worth the effort. It's fun to get them interactive with the shot, then zoom in later to see each person's expression.
Finer Things - Nestleton Waters Inn
In a scene that exudes sophistication and camaraderie, Matt and his men share laughter and conversation, their cigars adding an air of timeless refinement to the evening.
Nestleton Waters Inn
What a picturesque venue for a wedding, and you simply won't find a more delightful family than the Kiezebrinks in all of Canada. They're 1st-class people running an exceptional operation.
Hacienda Sereda
Shot at Hacienda Sereda in Waterloo, Ontario. Nice place. I believe it's the top event venue in the KWC region.
Right Side Of The Tracks
Phil is a very sharp cookie - a senior software engineer. He and his groomsmen enjoyed our process of photography. Shot in Waterloo, Ontario.

Let's Do Something Fun
After shooting the formal pictures for 90 minutes, I sensed an opportunity for something more dynamic. I proposed creating a playful, artistic image to the ladies, and their enthusiasm was immediate and palpable. Image inspired by Annie Leibovitz.
Where Troubles Melt Like Lemon Drops
A $5,000 camera with a $7,000 lens does not ensure great photographs, but when luck is on your side, any remnants of buyer's remorse fades quickly. I was told by Vistek sales that this 200mm f2 lens is 1 of only 4 in Canada.
One Day...
What I love about this picture is its pure candidness. She was lost in thought, gazing up at the beautiful bridal gown as the bride prepared in her spacious hotel suite. I crouched down to her eye level (which admittedly isn't far), partially hidden behind the bed, and captured this fleeting moment before she shifted. We can sense her thoughts — one day her own fairy tale will come true.
Bride In The Woods
This pretty young bride from Guelph, Ontario, has perched herself on a large tree stump beside a mosquito hotel small pond in the woods behind her childhood home. Ever since she was little she had envisioned having her bridal portrait taken in this pose, in this very spot. I was happy to make this picture for her, just as she had imagined. Her entire family watched and supported her from behind the camera.
Every time I see this photograph, I'm reminded of the Mike Tyson-sized mosquitoes that were attacking us during the shoot.
Bride In The Woods
A slightly more elegant look can be achieved simply by changing camera position and making subtle adjustments to her pose - 'Okay Meg, if it feels odd you're doing it right...Now push your left shoulder forward please...good...now shift your weight onto your right foot to tilt your pelvis...okay arch your back and sink backwards a tiny bit...now look at me and drop your chin slightly please...too far...chin up a wee bit and head back to your right just a touch. Someone behind the camera whispers, "Oh wow!"
Give me a nice little smile, not too big...you look absolutely GORGEOUS **click**
Katie & Phil
Katie draws attention effortlessly with her sweet looks, but my intention here is to depict Phil in a moment infused with an ethereal quality. Despite being a young man, he has an old soul; he's clearly seen much in his life already. He comes across as a genuine yet understated tough guy, and it's cool juxtaposing this persona with such gentle imagery.
Monique
With the allure of a movie star and an aura radiating laid-back, friendly vibes, she throws doors and hearts open with just a smile.
Angela & Ben
Angela placed a high value on playful and artistic imagery, significantly more than most brides, so I spent twice as much time in post production for her as I typically do, but ultimately, the quality of the photographs stemmed not from my efforts, but from her confidence and the genuine enjoyment she had throughout the process.
Katie & Phil
Drenched in the warm, golden light of the setting sun and surrounded by lush greenery, this was the last shot of the day. I'm really glad we took a moment to make this image on our way back to the cars, as it turned out beautifully.
Can We Have Favorites?
As photographers we're not supposed to, but I can't help it with Sabine. She graced my studio and set my wedding photography career on fire with her trust, her natural beauty and her photogenicity. I owe it all to this very lovely lady (and Pete too!). Shot w/Nikon D200; my first-ever digital wedding.

This Is Gorgeous Country
These picturesque humans simplify the art of photography. Nicole's exquisite beauty and down-to-Earth personality is matched only by her unimpeachable commitment to serving and protecting our community, making her truly special.
❤️
She is the ethereal dream that all men yearn for...a flower blooming in the garden of our hearts.
Tranquil Bride
Held by twilight's embrace, Nicole's graceful form is matched only by the loyalty of her regal friend.
Dappled Newlyweds
This type of lighting is quite challenging, but if we can find the right spot it might look quite nice.
Couple's Choice
They chose this beautiful location for photos because of their love for the wilderness, and I'm thankful they provided me with such an excellent setting to work in.
The Grand Room
When I saw the spectacular windows at the back of their lakehouse, I knew we were going to use them. Normally I'd use flash to balance the back with the fore, but in this case balance is ugly; I wanted them wrapped in angelic natural light with the details outside the house blown out to white for a clean background.
Stealing The Show
Shot at Darlington Provincial Park, a very nice place to make pictures. I'm trying to pose them a certain way and their (highly intelligent) australian shepherd is doing everything to get their attention lol
Fine Art Passion
One of my favorite images. I can pose people meticulously, but to get images like this that's not what happens. My primary role is to first earn the couple's trust and confidence, then put some physical distance between us with a longer lens and allow the genuine connection between the couple to shine through. The essence of a moment like this comes from the couple, not the photographer.
Authentic Diva
Michelle graduated the Royal Conservatory of Music where she achieved Level 8 piano, indicating signifigant proficiency and dedication. She is among the kindest, most thoughtful individuals I've ever known. She wed Slavko, a suave Serbian gent. Click the "Authentic Diva" caption heading to watch their Rich Bride TV episode "Gimme More".
Michelle & Slavko
I have had the pleasure of attending hundreds of weddings, many of which were extravagant, lavish affairs, yet none can compare to the sheer splendor of Michelle and Slavko's celebration. The meticulous planning that Michelle dedicated to her big day was professional-grade. While I may not feel entirely deserving of the remarkable kindness and generosity they extended to me, I am immensely grateful that Michelle chose me as her photographer. She could have selected anyone in the world (literally). It was an honor to shoot for them. These are first-class people, but in a cool, attractive way...not in a Richard & Emily Gilmore sort of way. Click the caption heading to watch their Rich Bride TV episode "Gimme More".
Creativity & Spirit
Andy's a sound engineer, the maestro behind the scenes, who has shaped the sonic textures of major bands like Billy Talent, Tragically Hip, and Van Halen. Johanna's an easy-going massage therapist (RMT), whose undeniable charm stems not only from her striking beauty, but also from her refreshing ability to not take herself too seriously. A fantastic blend of creativity and compassion.
Power Couple
Your individual successes as a distinguished lawyer, Lisa, and an accomplished investment banker, Ernesto, are not only impressive but also a testament to your relentless pursuit of excellence. It was an honor covering your big day at Arcadian Court. This image was made with the famous Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 portrait lens.
Arcadian Court, Toronto
This is one of the finest venues I've ever worked at - their prime rib is absolutely sublime. If you take a closer look, you'll spot Lisa & Ernesto on the balcony, observing their delighted guests as they have a wonderful time.
Popular People
Tracey and Daniel were an enjoyable couple who clearly had a large circle of friends, as many joined them for the celebration. Dan portrays the character 'McMurray' on the hit television show 'Letterkenny', and 'Backwoods' on the new series 'The Trades' on Crave. Click the caption heading to check out the trailer.
Beauty Defined
Tracy's bridal gown was the most impeccably tailored I've ever seen; it fit her flawlessly. This is also a reflection of her healthy lifestyle. She is stunning and a pleasure to work with. It's clients like her who make this business enjoyable.
Bridal Room Entry System®
Impossible to get Rembrandt lighting on everyone in a group like this in just 10 minutes, so I lit for Dan. And since he's the patent holder of the innovative Bridal Room Entry System (and also the groom, and also a TV star) it had to be him.
So you
A quiet, introspective moment that speaks volumes about the emotional journey of the bride on her wedding day. This peaceful image fits Dominique's gentle, sweet nature like a bespoke silken glove.
The Distillery District
Sonya & Rebecca faced multiple rejections from photographers before finding me. I don't consider myself particularly liberal, however I found their treatment by my supposed professional colleagues appalling and embarrassing, and welcomed the opportunity to work with them. We enjoyed a great time making pictures together!
On The Escarpment
As we emerged from the forest his parent's home came into sight, and we paused to take a breath and appreciate the exceptionally pretty view. Tomorrow, this is where they will unite as one.
Congratulations Melissa & Aaron
Probably the most laid back wedding event I ever attended. They made Teresa and me feel completely at home. Staying at this lovely B&B on the Niagara Escarpment, which is owned by their parents, was a rejuvenating experience.
Just One More Shot
Occasionally, I'll dedicate 20 minutes to capture a High Dynamic Range (HDR) shot of the location. The process involves making 9 separate photos, each with distinct exposure settings, and then merging them into a single composite in post-production. The technique produces a photograph with a very wide tonal range.

Epitome of Class & Style
These gentlemen were fantastic collaborators - and both families exuded a strong sense of style and sophistication.
Boots and Hearts
John & Marianne, authentic Canadians and two of the kindest ever. We joked about the big boots later. This was my first professional engagement photograph made with a digital camera. A Nikon D200, quite a step down from my F5, but I'm all about adopting new tech if it's viable.
Jaclyn
Jaclyn was not only a client but she also assisted me on one of my bigger contracts, as she wanted to learn the business. Excellent assistant photographer. I hope she followed her dream to be a pro shooter.
Make my job easy
The bridal party making some serious noise was a riot when this image popped up on the big screen during the reception slideshow. A memorable moment for sure.

Brian Greenway ~ April Wine
I've been listening to April Wine since I was a teenager, so you can imagine the thrill when an actual rock star like Brian asked for a print enlargement of this image and said it's his favorite photo of himself. Just wow...one of the best days of my life. I sent him a matted 11x17 on Velvet Fine Art, an exhibition-grade photographic paper, which is my personal favorite media.
Myles Goodwyn ~ April Wine
The band published this image on their official Facebook page to announce the death of their frontman to the world, with the caption 'So Long Old Friend'. I learned at that moment that he passed away - a shock. Seeing my work utilized in such a meaningful tribute and learning of Goodwyn's death was undoubtedly bittersweet, blending the sorrow of loss with a sense of honor that my photo could play a part in commemorating a Canadian music icon.
Inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and Canada's Walk of Fame, Myles Goodwyn and April Wine sold more than 10 million albums.
James Lumbers
I had the unique privilege of photographing James Lumbers, who ranks as the second-highest selling fine art painter in Canadian history. I doubt anybody has a more comprehensive collection of National Geographic magazines, which he uses for researching his subject matter and reference. Shot handheld with my Nikon D200 and Nikkor 200mm f/2.0 VR lens, considered by many to be the finest portrait lens ever manufactured.

My High School Crush
Her beauty is the least interesting thing about her. We're at Salvador Dalí Museum, St. Petersburg, Florida.
She's a natural beauty...
...and she likes photography as much as I do, with experience dating back into the 35mm film days, which is cool. I respect all good film photographers because it takes skill to shoot film properly, whereas digital does not. Shot in South Carolina.
Supermom, My Fair Lady
Modeling in one of my sister's fashion shows. What a knockout, and a mom of three!
Arrivederci
Another great day has come to a close — our morning, afternoon, and evening were all successful. As we prepare to leave, let's take a moment to say our goodbyes to the bride. A candid photo by Teresa - had no idea she shot this until the next day.
Supermoon 2012
Shot in my driveway with my ultrasharp 200mm f/2.0 VR lens, handheld while resting on the hood of the car. Two exposures to refocus between. A street light gave the tree some backlighting, making it visible against the dark night sky.
